Bajaj Chetak is all set to make a comeback in India. However, there is a major twist this time around. It will not be powered by the traditional internal combustion engine, but an electric motor. Bajaj Auto will launch the new Bajaj Chetak electric scooter later in the day. The two-wheeler maker has plans to export it to the European markets along with selling it here in India.
Bajaj Auto took the covers off the Chetak electric scooter in October 2019. The new Bajaj Chetak is being produced at two-wheeler maker’s Chakan manufacturing plant. The sales of Bajaj Chetak electric scooter will initially begin in Pune and Bengaluru from the existing Probiking network with KTM.

Bajaj has launched its first all-electric scooter in India with a price tag of Rs 1 lakh. The all-electric Chetak is available in the two variants — Urbane and Premium. The top-spec model is Rs 15,000 more expensive than the base model. It will be sold via Probiking dealerships alongside KTMs and in the coming few weeks, Husqvarna will join this list as well. However, customers can book one on its official website as well. Deliveries for the scooter will start from this month itself. The Chetak will hit showrooms in Pune first followed by Bengaluru.
Bajaj Chetak Electric Scooter Motor:
It gets a 4kW electric motor with 2 riding modes: Eco and Sport. Bajaj claims the Chetak will offer a real-world range of 95km in Eco mode and 85km in Sport mode. It also gets a reverse mode and You can get out of the tight parking areas riding the electric scooter backwards using the reverse mode!
Bajaj Chetak Electric Scooter Specifications:
The new Chetak gets a steel frame along with a sheet metal body. The electric scooter is equipped with a single-sided tubular suspension at the front and a monoshock at the rear. There is a single-sided cast aluminium swingarm as well. You will get 12-inch alloy wheels in the new Chetak. For performing the braking duties, there is a disc up front and drum at the rear. Also available is the regenerative braking system.
Now, we must tell you that the new Bajaj Chetak gets several eye-catching features. The scooter’s digital instrument console is surrounded by a satin chrome bezel. The LED headlamp is surrounded by horseshoe-shaped DRL. You will find LED turn indicators at the front, while the rear features sequential LED blinkers. The scooter gets Chetak “C” symbol at several places. But the Bajaj branding is strangely missing.
