Toyota Urban Cruiser SUV has been launched in the Indian market starting at ₹8.40 lakh. The company has announced that the deliveries of the new SUV will start from mid-October.

Toyota Urban Cruiser Price and Variants:
The Urban Cruiser SUV comes out as the second joint venture product under the Toyota-Suzuki alliance in India after the Glanza. Toyota Glanza was a rebaged Maruti Baleno. The Urban Cruiser is a spin off of the Maruti Vitara Brezza and sports the same exterior design and styling.
The Urban Cruiser has been launched in three variants – Mid-Grade, High-Grade and Premium-Grade. The pricing for the entry-level Mid-Grade MT starts at ₹8.40 lakh and extends up to ₹11.30 lakh for the top-spec Premium-Grade AT variant.
Toyota Urban Cruiser Specifications:
It runs on a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder petrol powertrain with an advanced Li-on battery featuring ISG (integrated starter generator). The Urban Cruiser also gets features such as torque assist, regenerative braking and idle start/stop system.
Its colour palette comprises 6 monotone colour options – Blue, Brown, White, Orange, Silver, and Grey, and three dual tone colors – Blue/Black, Brown/Black and Orange/White.
On the outside, the Urban Cruiser gets new bold and dynamic grille, LED projector headlamp and LED fog lamps. It rolls on diamond cut 16-inch alloy wheels which look premium and lend it a sporty appeal. Some of its other highlights include smart play-cast touchscreen, dual-tone premium interiors, rain sensing wipers, automatic climate control (standard across all variants), cruise control and electrochromic rear view mirror.
Toyota Urban Cruiser vs Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza:
The new kid on the block – Toyota Urban Cruiser comes in three trim levels namely Mid-Grade, High-Grade and Premium-Grade and these correspond against LXI/VXI, ZXI and ZXI+ trims of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. Here we compare all variants of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and the Toyota Urban Cruiser along with the price difference of the corresponding trims.
Low and mid variant:
The lower-most trim of the Urban Cruiser is named Mid-Grade and it has been priced at a starting of INR 8.40 lakh (for the manual transmission). On the other hand, the lower-most trim of the Vitara Brezza that’s called LXI is available for INR 7.34 lakh and the same comes with a manual gearbox only.
That said, if we compare the lower-most trims of both the subcompact SUVs, these have a price difference of INR 1.06 lakh with the Urban Cruiser costing more. However, the corresponding trim for Urban Cruiser Mid-Grade is the Vitara Brezza is VXI that is priced at a starting of INR 8.35 lakh.
If we talk about the automatic variants, while the Urban Cruiser Mid-Grade AT is priced at INR 9.80 lakh, the Vitara Brezza VXI AT can be yours for a price of INR 9.75 lakh. As one can see, the price difference here is just INR 5,000 with the Urban Cruiser costing more.
Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza ZXI+ vs Toyota Urban Cruiser Premium-Grade:
Now talking of the range-topping trims, the Toyota Urban Cruiser Premium-Grade with manual transmission is priced at INR 9.80 lakh while the corresponding manual variant of the Vitara Brezza namely ZXI+ MT will set you back by INR 9.75 lakh. Here as well, you will save INR 5,000 if you go for the Vitara Brezza.
Coming to the top-spec automatic variants, the Toyota Urban Cruiser Premium-Grade MT is available at the dealerships for a price of INR 11.30 lakh while the Vitara Brezza ZXI+ AT is priced at INR 11.15 lakh. That said, the range-topping automatic variants have a price difference of INR 15,000 and again, Vitara Brezza is the cheaper one here.
